Punjab to host Natl Games in Nov, 2000

CHANDIGARH, June 21: The Punjab Olympic Association has proposed to the Indian Olympic Association November 5 to 19 next year as the dates for the National Games which havebeen allotted to Punjab. Competitions will be held in 26 disciplines. The POA has proposed Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Patiala and Chandigarh as the venues of the 2000 National Games. Circle kabaddi will be a demonstration game. A circle kabaddi team from Pakistan may also be invited. A sum of Rs 20 crore will be given by the State Government to the POA for organising the Games, import of equipment and renovation of the existing sports facilities.Bench press meet
Bharat Sports Club (Punjabi Bagh) will organise the fourth open Delhi State Bench Press championship on June 27 at Hans Raj Model School, Punjabi Bagh.
