Mazdoor Sangh to donate a day's pay for PM's Relief Fund
PATIALA: The Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh has appealed to its cadres to donate one day's salary to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund in order to help the heroes of Kargil. This decision was taken during a meeting of the Sangh. Baldev Krishan Sharma, district president of Sangh, who presided over the meeting strongly condemned Pakistan for openly supporting the infiltrators in the Kargil sector. Rich tributes were also paid to the martyrs who laid down their lives in Kargil, Drass and Batalik areas. The Sangh also offered to donate blood for the injured jawans as and when required. The meeting was attend by more than 45 office-bearers of other unions and all the members assured to abide by the decision.Blood donation camp on July 2

Garhwali Sabha to hold state-level function
PATIALA: The Garhwali Pratinidhi Sabha, Punjab, has decided to organise its state-level function at Jalandhar on July 11. In a statement here today, Sabha general secretary Uttam Singh Bagrian said that the main agenda of the function is to discuss the problems faced by the Garhwali people in their region. He said that the Sabha wants to bring all these problems, of potable water, education, unemployment and electricity, in the notice of the Uttar Pradesh government. He said that the Sabha will also deliberate on the issue of the formation of Uttaranchal state. Among those who have consented to attend the function are Health Minister Manoranjan Kalia, Transport Minister Raghubir Singh Yadav Rajya Sabha member Manohar Kant Dhiani, MLA Lakhi Ram Joshi, Tehri, and Vijay Kumar Chopra, Chief Editor, Hind Samachar group of newspapers. The Sabha also paid tributes to the Kargil heroes and decided to raise funds to help their family members.
SPCA centres for Kharar, Mohali
KHARAR: Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) will soon have sub-divisional units at Kharar and S.A.S. Nagar, as per the directions of the Roopnagar Deputy Commissioner. Kharar senior veterinary officer Dr Ram Singh, who will be the vice-president of the sub-divisional SPCA, said the SPCA will have 31 or 51 members and some prominent citizens will be elected its president and general secretary.
Round-the-clock patrols ordered
AMBALA: The district administration has taken precautionary measures for the safety of public places in general and railway lines, important bridges, Indian Oil terminus and pump-stations to stall any threat by terrorists and extremists within the district. Deputy Commissioner Navraj Sandhu, through an order issued yesterday, made it obligatory for all able-bodied adult males in all the villages of the district to perform patrol duty round-the-clock. The gram panchayats have been ordered to ensure that patrol is conducted under their jurisdiction. The order which comes into force with immediate effect will continue for three months.
