ROOPNAGAR, June 27: Netaji Research Foundation chairman V.P. Saini has offered the services of Indian National Army (INA) volunteers for the Kargil sector, where the country's soldiers are locked in a fierce battle with Pakistani intruders. The Foundation, Saini said, was in touch with over 300 INA volunteers, mostly jawans, in various parts of the country. Though most of them are in the age group of 70 to 80 years, their services can be utilised in non-defence areas, including medical aid camps, the chairman of the foundation said.
According to Saini, INA volunteers from Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh are willing to render their services in the Kargil sector and despite the age factor, their motivation level was high."Considering their background as a trusted force of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, the INLA volunteers can set a precedent for others in an extraordinary situation," Saini told mediapersons at a briefing on a two-day conference beign organised to mark 20 years of the Research Foundation from July 24.
He said the conference will chalk out a strategy for presenting facts before a proposed inquiry commission looking into Bose's disappearance. The Central government recently announced its decision to order a fresh inquiry into Bose's disappearance.
