KHARAR, JUNE 27: At a joint installation ceremony held at the library hall of Arya College for Women here yesterday, Ashok Sharma and Amrish Kumar Shukla took over as the president and secretary, respectively, of Kharar Rotary Club, while Rajwant Kaur and Mamta Bhardwaj took over as the president and secretary, respectively, of Kharar Inner Wheel Club.Earlier, the outgoing secretaries of the Rotary and Inner Wheel Clubs, Harpreet Singh Rekhi and Kamaljit Kaur Rangi, highlighted the projects undertaken during the last year. The new secretaries of both the clubs, Amrish Kumar Shukla and Mamta Bhardwaj, listed out detailed plans of their respective clubs to be undertaken during the next year, 1999-2000.
Three blood donors of the township, Parveen Sharma, Pal Singh and Mohan Lal, were honoured for donating blood for five times regularly.
Ashok Sachdeva was declared the Best Rotarian of the year 1998-99.Speaking on the occasion, the district governor nominee of Rotary Club, Ranjit Bhatia, said that though the Rotary Club was small, it had won 16 prizes at the annual function of the Rotary District 3080, held at Mussorie, for its outstanding and dedicated services towards the welfare of the society.
On this occasion, a sum of Rs 5,100 was collected for Kargil victims which will be sent to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund.
