Cafe Royal cook Rangers' goose

MUMBAI, JUNE 27: Farzeen Vasania helped Cafe Royal to the Guru Nanak Trophy Football Tournament at the St Xaviers' ground, Parel here on Saturday. The goal gave Cafe Royal the equaliser after Borivli Rangers had scored in the first half. Regulation time ended 1-1 and Cafe Royal won the title 5-4 via the tie-breaker.

Borivli Rangers scored first after Cafe Royal had threatened several times. A Cafe Royal defender handled the ball inside the area and from the resultant award, Ovrille Gonsalves converted.

In the penultimate minute, from a flag kick, Vasania headed down the ball to neutralise Rangers' lead.

In the tie-breaker, Jennio Fialho, Vincent Gamre, Hasan Kamal, Leroy Nunes scored for Royal while only Sushant Gurav, Benoy Kuruvilla, Prashant Nerkar were successful for the losing team.

Chandra chews up Chawla

M Chandra defeated S Chawla (4-3) 44-54, 64-19, 36-70, 39-71, 65-26, 57-56, 60-32 in a thrilling second-round match of the Garware Club House Open snooker tournament, sponsored byAlpic Finance, yesterday.
