Rafter sails past Enqvist

AGENCE FRANCE PRESSE
WIMBLEDON, JUNE 27: It was billed as Australia Day but in the end it was a German and a Dutchman who had grabbed the headlines at Wimbledon yesterday.

Australians Jelena Dokic and men's second seed Patrick Rafter were both on Centre Court but there was no denying Boris Becker yet another day of glory.

Rafter will play 31-year-old Becker in the fourth round after easily beating Thomas Enqvist in a match which featured a half-hour rain-break, amazingly the first of the tournament on its sixth day.

Rafter beat the World number 20, 7-6 (7/5), 6-2, 6-2. The match was interrupted at 2-5 in second set and the break affected Enqvist, who promptly served a double fault at the re-start to lose the set and he never looked like recovering. The hapless Swede double-faulted again to lose serve for 2-4 and then again to concede match point, a netted backhand volley completing his misery.
