Bradman's bat worth Rs 9 lakh

REUTERS
MELBOURNE, JUNE 27: An Australian collector paid $32,200 Australian dollars (about Rs 9.01 lakh) today for a cricket bat once used by Sir Donald Bradman. The bat was among 500 lots of cricketing memorabilia sold at an auction by Christie's.

The Bradman memorabilia included gloves, state caps, a Sheffield Shield finals bat and signed photographs. The gloves fetched $27,600, well above the estimates of $7,000-10,000. Both items went to Australian collectors.

Bill Woodfull's Test cap from the Bodyline series went for $23,000, and Richie Benaud's first Australian Test captain's cap sold for $11,000. A one-day match shirt worn by Shane Warne last year was sold for $1,400, while a one-day helmet belonging to Steve Waugh from last season fetched $1,955.

Christie's said they received substantial international interest, with telephone bids from Britain, South Africa, New Zealand, United States, Malaysia and Japan.
