Weekend Retreat/Shankar Dutta

Shankar Dutta, the chief of Kodak India, says there is no particular place he likes to spend his weekends in. And the weekends he describes himself as spending are idyllic, to say the least. With the office being closed on Saturdays and Sundays, one would think he has a lot of time on hand. That, he'll have you believe, is a myth. ``On Saturdays I am generally tied up with some office-related work, and the scope to get away from that is non-existent. But whenever possible I spend time with my family. That is what I like to do best. Once in a while, when schedules permit that kind of time off, we go to my sister's house in Pune,'' he says. Otherwise most weekends are spent going on long drives, and then Dutta and his wife see a movie which his six-year-old can also enjoy.

What better time to laze around, he feels, than a holiday. There are times when he goes swimming or simply shopping for books and CDs, something he enjoys immensely. If the mood's good, there's always the option to eat out or drop in at afriend's home. Listening to music or fooling around with the camcorder is also an option. The surprise, however, comes at the end of the tale: ``Many a times I simply stay at home and maybe cook!''
