CHANDIGARH, July 16: Various students' organisations have expressed their anguish over the Panjab University's failure to appoint deans, while the president of the Akhil Bharitya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has stated that he would write to the University Chancellor ``about the complete breakdown of the university administrative machinery.''Neeraj Sharma, ABVP president, stated that the failure of the committee on Thursday indicated that the ``administrative machinery had collapsed.'' Bhupinder Singh Bhuppi, president, Haryana Students' Association (HSA), stated that the organisation members would gherao the syndics on July 30 and launch ``a large-scale agitation if the syndics either failed to appoint deans or appointed Prof R.S. Grewal as the DSW.
The Panjab University Students' Union (PUSU) president, Lakhjeet Singh, also stated that the union would oppose Grewal's appointment ``if that happens.'' He added that if the deans were not appointed by July 30, the union would begin a hunger strike on the campus.
