CHANDIGARH, July 16: Art Folio, the latest art gallery in the city, has reopened after summer break with an exhibition of their old collection before going full steam with their shows. The collection is in fact a walk down the memory lane, a reminder of artists and their works, exhibitions and workshops.
So there is A. Balasubramaniam's holograms, Satish Gujral's realisation of sound, Bhanu Shah's riot of colours and Surendra Pal Joshi's folklore-and-mural depictions.
But there is a new addition and an interesting one too. Satish Chandra has put up his computerised tapestry, a technique mastered from Japan. It was one of his works on the Golden Temple that Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee presented to Nawaz Sharif after the bus ride. Satish Chandra's canvases on display at the Art Folio show his deft handling. Beside works featuring Harmandir Sahib and Kesgarh Sahib in soothing shades, there is a series that delineate the initiation of the Panj Piaras.
