IGP presents Rs 7 lakh to Governor

CHANDIGARH, July 16: The Chandigarh Police have contributed Rs 7.12 lakh to the Army Central Welfare Fund. The draft was handed over to Punjab Governor Lt Gen B.K.N. Chhibber (retd) by the UT IGP, S.K. Singh today.n THE principal, staff, parents and students of Blue Bird School, Panchkula, have collected Rs 16,500 for welfare of officers and soldiers serving in the Kargil sector. The amount was handed over to the GOC-in-Chief, Western Command, today. A statement said that the school authorities have also offered to provide free education to wards of war victims. All 43,000 officers and employees of Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam, Haryana Power Generation Corporation, Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam and Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam have donated one day salary, amounting to Rs 97.36 lakh, towards the Haryana War Heroes Relief Fund. The cheque was presented to Haryana Chief Minister Bansi Lal by the state Minister for Power Attar Singh today. Employees of Haryana State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation have also donated Rs 3.5 lakh to the fund. The cheque was handed over to Haryana Minister of State for Cooperation Jagdish Yadav by HAFED managing director P.K. Chaudhary.Haryana Roadways Regional Transport Authorities' employees have collected Rs 35 lakh and handed over the amount to state Minister for Transport Raj Kumar Saini by the Transport Commissioner, Naresh Gulati.Class-IV employees of the Haryana Civil Secretariat have contributed Rs 40,350 by donating one day salary. The amount was handed over to the Haryana Chief Secretary.Employees of the Economic and Statistical Advisor, Haryana, have also donated one day salary amounting to Rs 63,730 towards the Chief Minister's War Heroes Fund.UT Estate Office staff have donated Rs 30,000 to the Army Central Welfare Fund for the welfare of families of Kargil martyrs. The cheque was handed over to the UT Deputy Commissioner today.Members of Rising Scholars, accompanied by students of nine different schools today visited the injured soldiers admitted in the Western Command Hospital, Chandimandir, and presented them items of daily use like towels, slippers, toothpaste and eatables. On this occasion, St Kabir Public School presented a draft of Rs 20,000 to the hospital Commandant, Maj Gen Virendra Singh.Lions Club, SAS Nagar, today presented a cheque of Rs 51,000 towards the Army Central Welfare Fund. The cheque was presented to Punjab Minister of State for Industries Sucha Singh Langah and SDM O.P. Popli in a simple ceremony at a gurdwara in Madapura village in Phase II.Lions Club, Mohali, presented two sewing machines to a tailoring school at the Madanpura Gurdwara. The school charges no fee for tailoring classes. The sewing machines were handed over to Sub-Divisonal Magistrate O.P.
