Tipnis visits Air Force station
Ambala:
The Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal A.Y. Tipnis, who visited the air force station at Ambala after Operation Vijay in Kargil, today, cautioned all the air force personnel not to be complacent. He complimented all the officers and staff for their role in the recent air operations. On arrival, he was received by the Air Officer Commanding, Air CMDR R.S. Chinna, along with other officers. He was accompanied by his wife Molina Tipnis. She addressed the wives of air force personnel of the base and extended her appreciation to the ladies of AFWWA (local) for their valued contribution to welfare schemes and projects launched for families of airmen. She also visited the wounded Kargil soldiers admitted to the Military Hospital, Ambala Cantonment and distributed gifts.

Punjabi varsity results on July 19
Patiala:
The result of B.com-III, BSc-II, MA Education-II, Geography-II, MSc Botany-I, BA Hon's English-III, Punjabi-III, Punjabi-II, Punjabi-I, English -I and Political Science-I, shall be declared on July 19. This was stated in a press release issued by the University, here today.

Khatrao elected president
Chandigarh:
Karam Singh Khatrao has been elected president of the Punjab Secretariat Personal Staff Association. Kashmiri Lal Nafri, general secretary of the association, said Khatrao was elected unanimously. Balbir Kaur has been elected senior vice-president, Jasbir Singh Bhullar vice-president, Surjit Singh joint secretary, Jugal Kishore Khanna organising secretary and Balwinder Singh, treasurer.

College teachers hold rallies
Patiala:
On a call given by the Punjab and Chandigarh College Teachers' Union, all the teachers of private aided colleges of Patiala, Roopnagar, Sangrur, Bathinda and Mansa districts sat on dharnas and held rallies in their colleges. These teachers were protesting Punjab government decision to reduce the retirement age of teachers from 60 to 58 years.

The service conditions of the teachers are governed by the university calender which can be amended only by Vidhan Sabha, but this procedure was not adopted, they said. Release of Rs 23.61 crore pending grant, medical and HRA on revised rates and implementation of pension gratuity scheme are some of the other demands.

Prof Balbir Singh, area secretary, M.M. Gupta, district president, Prof Rashpaul Singh, secretary, and Prof Gian Singh, president, local unit, addressed the rally at Modi College today.
