The Key to Success

Simarpreet Singh Luthra
Success comes before `Work' only in a dictionary. Nothing flourishes like success. Only one who is brilliant enough, and has the itch, interest and positive attitude can grab it and get hold of it.

Every person must set goals for oneself. For example, if a student's goal is to just pass and other student's is to get a rank, who do you think will will fare better in class? If intelligence is the same, then the student with a higher goal will learn more effectively. Since whether a student passes or fails, he or she spends the same time in school.

In order to achieve our goal we must have an explicit picture of what we want to do to move ourselves toward the goal. We must make full use of our time and plan each day to follow the programme.

A person must be devoted to achieve success. Success cannot be forced upon. Just as a horse can be taken to the water but cannot be forced to drink, similarly a person can be advised to do something that will bring him success but cannot be forced to follow it.

We must read books and magazines on the subject of specialization. We must also participate in debates concerning the subject. But we must watch out that we never let our exceptional command over one subject make us haughty or arrogant. For, this is contrary to success.

One must participate in variety of activities, maybe even become a `Jack of all trades and a master at one', for this will make a person more confident in public. We should not lose heart if the doors to success are hard to tread upon. We must take a lesson from the spider that fell a number of times and still kept trying. At last, the spider did succeed. So shall we.

The joys of success are plenty. `Dedication' and `Determination', the two D's speak about it. Only then can you reach the flights of fantasy one day.
