VADODARA, July 21: The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) has advocated the need to follow separate guidelines instead of following the General Development Control Regulations (GDCR) saying that it has to suffer financial losses as hoardings and banners cannot be put up anywhere in the city. The administrative wing's proposal is likely to the taken up for discussion in the Standing Committee meeting on Thursday.
The administration has suggested that instead of the GDCR, rules of the Bombay Provincial Municipal Corporation Act should be followed. The proposal clearly states that in Rajkot, Ahmedabad, Jamnagar and Surat, the GDCR is not followed and the corporations follow their own rules.
Limit on gas lines: The VMC administration has asked the Gas Committee to decide on giving pipeline gas connections to the consumers in wake of the Gas Authority of India's (GAIL) recent letter asking them to restrict the number of connections.
The GAIL has said in no uncertain terms that the VMC cannot keep giving connections in the hope that it would continue to get additional gas from it.
