Christians beaten in Bhavka village

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
VADODARA, July 21: Christian families who refused to contribute towards a local festival in Bhavka village, in the Garwada police station area of Dahod district, were reportedly attacked by miscreants on Sunday, according to delayed reports. Eleven people have been arrested in this connection.

Miscreants damaged and looted a prayer hall, and robbed silver jewellery and cash from two Christian women and a man, reports said.

In an FIR lodged with the Garwada police station, one Ramsinhbhai Malabhai Bhil accused three men -- Ratnabhai Gevlabhai Vahonia, Bhikhabhai Ratnabhai Vahonia and Ramanbhai Ratnabhai Vahonia -- among others, of the violence.Talking to Express Newsline on Wednesday, District Superintendent of Police K L N Rao said the incident had been triggered by the alleged of some converts to Christianity to contribute to a village festival.

``Senior police officials reached the village as soon as they received the information'', he said, adding that the three accused and eight others had been arrested.
