Police thwart dacoity attempt at Mahim, four arrested

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE  
MUMBAI, July 23: Four persons were arrested by the Mahim police on Thursday afternoon while they were preparing to commit a dacoity. The accused were found in possession two country-made hand bombs, one country made revolver and a chopper.

According to the police, some persons were attempting to commit a dacoity at the BEST receiving station near St Xavier's Technical Institute on the Sion-Mahim Link Road. Police then laid a trap and arrested four persons who were found to be moving in a suspicious manner. However, three of their associates escaped. Search of the accused resulted in the recovery of arms and ammunition.

The police have identified the accused as Raju alias Nikhil Rajandas (30), Mohammed Jehangir Shaikh (19), Sunil Satya Kavita (20) and Bindu Haradhan Maji (19). Further investigations are in progress and search is on for the trio who have managed to escape.
