Siti Cable impleaded in protest case

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
CHANDIGARH, JULY 23: Allowing the petitioner to implead Siti Cable as a respondent, the Punjab and Haryana High Court today issued notice for August 3 on a petition seeking directions to the UT Administration for "investigating" the "undermining of the Court's authority" during a protest regarding helmets against a High Court judge. The petitioner, city advocate Kulwant Kaur had, in alternate, sought directions to the respondents for "providing the names of the contemners to enable the filing of a proper contempt petition in the court".

In her petition, she had stated that certain unknown persons, including ladies, protesting the orders outside the Sector 34 gurdwara had "committed contempt of court and by doing so had also undermined the authority of the court to a zero level".

Regarding Siti Cable's role, the petitioner had also stated that the protest was shown by them in their programme City Halchal two days ago. Today, pronouncing the directions, Justice T.H.B. Chalapathi of the High Court observed: "Counsel for the petitioner makes an oral prayers to implede Siti Cables as a second respondent to this petition. The prayer is allowed and the petitioner is permitted to amend the case title".
