Ban on use of Govt vehicles for poll campaign

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
MUMBAI, JULY 23: State Chief Secretary Arun Bongirwar has issued a circular to all government departments, state undertakings, corporations and semi-government bodies in Maharashtra to strictly monitor the use of government vehicles by political parties and leaders.

The circular says that no government officer should allow any minister, minister of state, candidate or an elected representative holding government office to use government vehicles for any poll related work. The officers have been warned against not implementing the ban as per directives issued by the Election Commission of India. The circular says if an officer was found guilty, he will have to face stringent action.

The Government has already forwarded the EC directives to all government offices to implement the code of conduct for general elections.
