Siddhartha wins Challenger

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
NEW DELHI, July 23: Former national junior snooker champion Siddhartha Anand finally came good to win the 12th Challenger as a part of the Pepsi Cool Pool Series currently on here.

Sidhartha, who has had a disappointing series so far, was in a fine form winning the finals against Manoj Tyagi, the finals scoreline reading 2-0. Manoj Tyagi is probably the unluckiest player in the series, having lost all four times he has entered the finals. Siddhartha reached the finals beating Saurabh Jindal in the semifinals and Amit Sharma before that. Interestingly, Siddhartha lost to Saurabh Jindal in an earlier match. Manoj Tyagi reached the finals without any losses, beating Gaurav Gupta in the semifinals and Himanshu Narang in the round before that.

Important losers included national junior snooker and billards champion Manan Chandra (finished 9th). Manan had a tough time against Ravi Lohani, who beat him twice to knock the former out. Another promising player, Rishab Thukral made his debut in this series but lost the opening match to Kapil Arya. Rishab went on to win his next five matches, before losing to Madhur Yadav to finish overall ninth.

Sanjay Datt lost two straight matches to finish at the bottom. Ripu Damam (33rd), Sandeep Betala (17th) and Anil Advani (13th) all had a disappointing show. Saurabh Jindal faced the toughest draw a player can possibly expect. After an openiong round win against Ripin Sethi, he went on to beat Ripu daman, Sandeep Betala, Sidhartha Anand and Amit Sharma before losing to Sidhartha in the semis.

Delhi taekwondo
