Kashmiri Pandits ask US to label Pak `terrorist' nation

PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
NEW DELHI, JULY 26: Two Kashmiri Pandit organisations have demanded that the United States declare Pakistan a terrorist state in view of ``brazen incursion'' by its forces in Kargil and repeated massacres of Hindus in Jammu and Kashmir by militants supported by Islamabad.

``The US and other big powers should declare Pakistan a terrorist state and impose necessary sanctions on the country to force Islamabad to curb its fundamentalist activities which are aimed at destabilising its neighbouring countries, particularly India,'' All India Kashmiri Samaj (AIKS) general secretary Rajinder Kaul Premi said here.

He said the intrusion by Pakistani forces in Kargil had ``exposed Islamabad's nefarious and evil designs to annex parts of India illegally and forcibly''.

``As the intrusion misadventure failed, the militants backed by Pakistan resorted to repeated massacres across J&K to ethnically cleanse the state of minorities,'' Premi said and added that declaring Pakistan a terrorist state would be the ``mosteffective measure'' for ending militancy in J&K.

Panun Kashmir press secretary Yuvraj Raina also voiced the same demand, saying ``Pakistan has become a rogue nation'' and was ``trying to create chaos in India, particularly J&K''.

He added that the latest massacres in J&K also reflected ``total failure'' of the Farooq Abdullah government in the state to protect the ``helpless Hindu minorities from evil designs of Muslim fundamentalists aided and abetted by Pakistan''.
