PUNE, JULY 26: A ticket collector was suspended by the Central Railway officials following an altercation with a naval jawan on Friday morning. The government railway police filed a non-cognisable offence on Saturday afternoon following a complaint filed by Anil Kumar Surinder Prasad of the Indian Navy.According to the complaint filed by Prasad, he was allegedly beaten up by Ticket Collector (TC) Kalal (45) and his accomplices following an argument on Friday. Prasad was visiting his ailing mother who has been admitted to Command Hospital.
Prasad had purchased a current ticket for the Indrayani Express on Friday. During checking TC Kalal refused to accept the ticket's validity and asked him to pay a fine. Prasad claimed that he was unaware that the ticket was not valid and refused to pay the fine till he had discussed the matter with his superiors. An altercation cropped up and Prasad was allegedly pushed of his seat and taken to the Ticket Collector's office at the station.
There Prasad was allegedly beaten up by Kalal and his co-accused, TC Salve (40), TC Bankar (25), TC Kaji (40). They continued to beat him up till senior railway officials hearing the commotion rushed to the spot.
Prasad filed a complaint with the railway police the following day and the railway authorities have suspended Kalal and have instituted a departmental inquiry against him. According to Railway PRO Y K Singh, the others accused will also be questioned during the departmental inquiry.
