Collision
Basirbhai (45) was killed when the cycle on which he was travelling was hit by a vehicle. The incident occurred on Sunday night near the Narol-Sarkhej octroi checkpost. The Vatva police have registered a case and are investigating.

Drivers fined
The Traffic Police collected fines from 1,153 drivers for violation of traffic rules. They filed cases against 1490 drivers for various offences. Meanwhile about 32 vehicles were towed away by the city police for causing obstruction to moving traffic.

14 held
The city police have filed 14 cases under the Prohibition Act and arrested 14 persons with 173 litres of Indian Made Foreign Liquor. Police also arrested 69 persons as a precautionary measure. Besides, the city police have filed five cases and detained about 18 persons under the Gambling Act. The police recovered Rs 1,998 from them.
