MUMBAI, JULY 27: As part of the first phase of a comprehensive road beautification programme, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has narrowed in on nine roads in the city and suburbs. The BMC hopes to beautify 50 roads in all, with the aid of corporates and non-governmental organisations.Babasaheb Ambedkar, Senapati Bapat Marg, Veer Savarkar Road and Dr Annie Besant Road in the city, V N Purav Marg, Mankhurd-Ghatkopar Link Road and Lal Bahadur Shastri Road in the eastern suburbs and S V Road and Link Road in the western suburbs will see active attempts at beautification soon.
At a meeting with Municipal Commissioner K Nalinakshan on Monday, the Rotary Club offered to adopt a school, hospital and garden situated in their districts in the city. The club will beautify and maintain a two km stretch in each district, and has been asked to submit a detailed proposal within a month to Joint Municipal Commissioner Ajoy Mehta.
