MUMBAI, JULY 27: A young couple who had entered into a suicide pact was found dead in Room No 10, Tilson Hotel at Ulhasnagar today. The staff of the hotel had the door of the room the couple were staying in broken when they failed to get any response to repeated knocks.A Central Police squad led by PSI Chandrakant Budhare forced open the door at 12.40 pm and found the bodies. Empty containers of insect repellents Tik-20 and Baygon were found in the room with another unlabelled red bottle, the contents of which have not yet been ascertained. No suicide note was found in the room or on the deceased persons.
The police have identified the bodies as Hemlata Damodar Jadhav (19) and Prashant Babu Shetty (22), who are residents of Kudus, Wada in the Thane district. Jadhav was an second year BA student of Swami Vivekanand College in Wada, while Shetty managed a bar owned by his father.
A post-mortem conducted at the Central Hospital revealed that the couple had drunk alcohol before consuming the insecticide.The bodies have been handed over to the couple's parents. Further investigations are being carried out by Narayan Dhapale, who is head of the police station.
