CHANDIGARH, JULY 27: The General Hospital and Allied Dispensaries Class III Employees Union held a demonstration at the Sector 16 General Hospital today, protesting the alleged maltreatment of the two nurses who were on fast-unto-death by the Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32, yesterday.The protesters alleged that the two nurses, Bakshish Kaur and Lakhwinderjit Kaur, who had been admitted to GMCH, were forcibly discharged by the hospital authorities since "they said they didn't have required beds".
Today members of Class III Paramedical, Sweeper Union and Class IV Unionparticipated in the demonstration. The leaders of these union Kanwaljit Singh, Gopal and Baldev condemned the attitude of authorities towards ANMs on fast unto death.
The rally was also addressed by union leaders including Raghbir Singh Sandhu, Sajjan Singh of Joint Action Committee of Punjab and UT Employees, Ramesh Chandolia, Sant Singh of UT Subordinate Services Federation and Rakesh Chopra of the Trade Union Council. They all demanded action against the Sector 32 Government Medical College and Hospital employees who "threw out the ailing nurses - one of whom had high temperature."
