CHANDIGARH, JULY 27: Members of the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation Horticulture Workers Union today staged a day-long dharna outside the Municipal Commissioner's office to press for their demands.The decision to hold the dharna was taken up in the executive body meeting of the Union held yesterday. Union General secretary Ashwani Kumar said their demands were just and were lying pending with the MC for a long period.
These demands include the filling up of vacant posts, payment to daily wage workers, release of arrears of the daily wagers w.e.f. 01-04-96 to 31-05-96, settlement of the gratuity fund, leave encashment and pension. Other demands include the issue of provision of safety kit, macintoshes and gum boots to workers and the payment of risk duty allowance.
