Complaint against school
Suresh N Raghuwanshi, a resident of the city, has lodged a complaint with the district education officer against T&TV Sarvajanik High School, accusing it of collecting donations from students without giving any receipts. Raghuwanshi has urged the DEO to take action against the Sarvajanik Education Society, which runs the school.

Office-bearers
New office-bearers of the Maharashtra Mandal, a cultural organisation, were elected at its annual general meeting on Monday. D K Patwardhan and Suresh Yardi have been elected trustees of the Mandal, while G G Bhagwat has been elected president. Suresh Saraf and Sharad Karve have been appointed vice-presidents, Balkrishna Vadnere chairman and Gajanan Chitnis the treasurer. Bhaskar Agashe and Makrand Kulkarni have been appointed secretaries while Vrinda Kulkarni has been elected joint secretary. Members of other committees for 1999-2000 were appointed as well, a release issued here said.

Home guard dies
Arjun More, a home guard, died on the spot when he was hit by a jeep at Gunsandha in Songadh taluka on Monday night. He was on his way to Songadh. A case has been registered with the Ukai police station.

Interview call
Everyone who had applied for MRS Part-I in the Rural Studies Faculty of South Gujarat University and possess the basic qualification for the course have been asked to appear for an interview at 11 am on August 1 at the Science Building, Rural Studies Faculty, with relevant documents.

BDMA talk
The Bharuch District Management Asssociation will organise a talk on `National Defence and Economic Growth' at the GNFC Corporate Building auditorium on Wednesday. A release said that the talk would be delivered by Pascal Alan Nazareth.

Rana confident
Vadodara:
Union Textile Minister Kashiram Rana has said that the Kargil issue will definitely benefit the BJP in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections. During a brief stopover on his way to New Delhi on Tuesday, he told reporters that his party would bag about 22 seats in the State. Criticising Shankersinh Vaghela for his speeches against Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee, Rana said the voters of Gujarat would teach the Congress a lesson.
