Ahmedabad, Aug 2: Even as the AICC scrutiny committee is busy finalising the list of Congress candidates for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, the Thakor community here sees the proposal to field Shankersinh Vaghela from Kapadvanj constituency as an attempt to finish off the political career of their leader Jagdish Thakor.Though Jagdish Thakor is silent over the issue, the Ahmedabad Shaher Samast Thakor Samaj has strongly resented the party move. Its V-P Manubhai Thakor and two secretaries have stated that Jagdish Thakor had worked hard to strengthen the party in the State. ``When the party was unsure of winning the Kapadvanj seat in the previous Lok Sabha election, it had given ticket to Jagdish Thakor, but now when it has become the easiest seat to win, Shankersinh Vaghela wants to contest from there,'' they said.
They have threatened that the party would have to face adverse results if Jagdish Thakor was ignored in the forthcoming elections. The Samiti also pointed out that the State Congress had been unjust to the community by disbanding the Baxi Panch cell working under Thakor.
