Panel seeks explanation from Arts faculty dean

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
VADODARA, Aug 10: The Grievance Committee set up to decide on the future of the four students who have been debarred from admissions has demanded an explanation from the Faculty of Arts Dean Maya Shah for her decision.

The members of the cell said that the dean had violated the ordinance 290 of the M S University rule book. According to the ordinance if the incident was minor the dean could take an action and then inform the Vice Chancellor.

If the action of the students were major, (the committee considers the incident to be major) then the dean is supposed to appoint a disciplinary committee which could take any action against the guilty students. This disciplinary committee could first inform the dean and later the proposed action to be taken could be informed to the V-C.

One of the committee members said, ``The committee has asked Shah to justify her action and give an explanation at the earliest.'' The member said that the dean has not followed any of the directives hence the grievance committee should be informed and later any action could be taken.

``The admissions of the students stand cancelled till the dean does not give an explanation,'' informed the member.
