Crown for Ansh

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
NEW DELHI, August 10: Ansh Adlakha of Manav Sthali was stretched full distance by Nitin Mahajan of Bhatnagar International School before the former subdued the latter 27-25, 19-21, 21-15, 19-21, 21-16 to claim the boys singles title in the Surendra Nath Jauhar `Faquir' memorial table tennis tournament at the Mothers International School here today.

Ansh began on a promising note, notching up a 27-25 win in the first game but Nitin caught up with him in the second to push his rival to the brink. But the former came back well in the third and it looked like winning the next when Nitin pooled his resources well enough to pip him in the fourth.

With two games each, the decider was expected to be anti-climax. But the experienced Ansh put it across his rival, seizing the opportunity well to win the crown without wasting any time.

The exhausted Nitin had the game under his grip but he was so much error-prone that he let a good opportunity go by.
