SURAT, Aug 22: It might sound incredible, but a four-year-old from Navsari city is actually an expert in classical singing and can sing upto 50 raagas! A student of J J School in Navsari, Malhaar Kirit Rana is already a prodigy in his native district. An official release issued here said that Malhaar Kirit Rana, whose mother Ragini Rana, an assistant sub-accountant in the treasury department of the district, is only four and can sing upto 50 raagas of Indian classical music. Rana is now learning classical dance as well.
"The release added that sans any stage whatsoever, the youngster has performed kalavati malhar, maalkosh deshi, todi, saraswati darbari, purvadh naarthi, hans dhwani -- all different forms of classical singing -- to rave reviews in the past few months." Rana is at present undertaking lessons of more complicated aspects of classical music under the tutelage of Prakash Rana and is also learning the skills of Bharatanatyam.
