Widow axed fatally
A 40-year-old widow, Shantiben Damsinh Hariya Nayak, was axed to death on Monday night. According to the police there were several marks on the neck and head of Shantiben, a resident of Ekalbarah village in Chhotaudepur taluka of the Vadodara district. Ranglabhai Nanji Rathwa, another resident of the village, is suspected to be behind the murder, according to an FIR filed in the Chhotaudepur Police Station. No arrest has however been made in the case so far.Over Rs 15,000 stolen
Cash and valuables worth Rs 15,200 were reportedly stolen at Ekad Apartment, opposite Kalyan Hall, in Fatehgunj area on Monday. According to the police, the incident occurred between 1 pm and 2.30 pm when the miscreants broke open the locks of two houses in afternoon when the occupants were away. Investigations into the case are on.
Fiat, bike stolen
The police registered two cases of vehicle theft in different parts of the city on Sunday. According to the police, a Fiat car, bearing registration number GJ 17 C 920 and valued at Rs 90,000, was stolen near Sardar Baug swimming pool. A Yamaha motorcycle (GJ 6 EE 6011) worth Rs 30,000, belonging to Vibhesh Ghanshyambhai, a resident of Koyali village, was lifted from parking lot of the Vitthal Plaza on R C Dutt Road between 9.30 and 11.30 on Monday night. Police is investigating the cases.
Liquor seized
The city police seized country liquor worth Rs 4,000 and India-Made Foreign Liquor worth Rs 3,900 during raids at different parts of the city on Monday. Three cases have been registered and nine persons found in inebriated state were arrested.
