MUMBAI, August 24: The last key prosecution eyewitness in the 1992 JJ shootout trial today turned hostile to the prosection case by not identifying three key accused before the designated TADA court of judge P K Chavare.So far, seven key witnesses, including the complainant in the case, PSI Krishnavtar Thakur, have turned hostile to the prosecution case. Today, the watchman of JJ Hospital Shankar Ramchandra Jadhav who deposed before the court refused to identify the three accused, namely prime accused Subhash Singh Thakur, Shivcharan alias Bacchi Singh and Prasad Khade.
Earlier, Jadhav had identified the three in an identification parade conducted by the police and told police that on the day of the incident he saw the trio coming out of the hospital gate. However, today Jadhav told the court during examination-in-chief by special public prosecutor Rohini Salian that since the incident took place six years ago, he could not remember the faces of the accused. However, Jadhav told the court that killingshad taken place on September 12, 1993. On that day, Shailesh Haldankar, a member of the Arun Gawli gang was gunned down along with two police constables by members of the Dawood gang who sought revenge for the killing of Dawood's brother-in-law Ismail Parkar.
