MUMBAI, AUGUST 24: Certain areas of the city will go without water supply for two days as the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will undertake major repairs on a leaking mainline.A portion of the water pipeline, which is 1,450 mm in diameter, developed a major leakage at Nana Chowk. While the entire area was submerged, residents faced hardships as they had to go without water. The civic administration has decided to undertake repairs of the leaking portion of the pipeline, but as the water mains will be isolated, the supply of water will be rescheduled. The repairs will be carried out on August 27 and 28.
On August 27, there will be no water supply in areas covering A, C and D wards, as well as in areas under B ward - Nagdevi Street, Sheriff Devji Street, Kazi Sayyed Street, Madhavrao Gokhale Street, Janjikar Street and Abdul Rehman Street. No water supply will be available on August 27 and 28 in areas in E wards, such as Mumbai Central, Nagpada, Agripada, Arthur Road and in G South ward areassuch as Saat Rasta, Boricha Marg, N M Joshi Marg, BDD chawls and Senapati Bapat Marg from Ganpatrao Kadam Marg to E Moses Road. To facilitate storage, 10 per cent more water will be given to these areas on August 25 and 26.
Water supply to G/south and G/north wards also will be curtailed by 30 minutes on August 25 and 26 to allow for greater supply to affected areas on those days, and to facilitate storage. However, additional water supply will be made available for 30 minutes duration to these wards on August 27 and 28.Water-filling stations at Worli and Bhandarwada Hill Reservoir will be kept open for 24 hours on August 27 and 28 to allow for the filling of tankers for consumers in affected areas. The water will be supplied free of cost.
However, consumers have been asked to make their own arrangements for tankers.
