Crime Watch -- Vadodara

One arrested for theft
The Vadodara rural police on Tuesday arrested one Salim Diwan, a resident of Datarpur on Dabhoi road, in connection with the stealing of a truck last month. The accused is also reported to have admitted his involvement in several other crimes. Further investigations of the case are on.

Three held


Three more people were arrested by the Panigate police in connection with Sunday's clash between two groups of youths belonging to different communities in Bavamanpura, thus raising the number of arrested to six. Three contables of the Special Reserve Police were injured while separating the two groups pelting stones on each other after a tiff resulting over blockade of road due to parking of a tractor belonging to one of the groups. The police had to fire three rounds in the air to disperse the unruly youths.

Gangoda loot
Cattle and jewellery worth Rs 7,000 were looted by a group of armed robbers from a house in Gangoda village under Chhotaudepur Police Station on Monday night. According to an FIR filed by Gamtiben Jayanti Rathwa, eight armed robbers entered her house around 12 in the night, beat up the family members and took two bullocks, three goats, some clothes and jewellery. Investigations are on.

Murdered
One Kedia Naika Rathwa, a resident of Chotwada village in Chhotaudepur taluka, was hacked to death by a villager on Tuesday morning. According to the Chhotaudepur police, Rathwa objected to the grazing of cattle in his field by a villager, which provoked the accused who assaulted Rathwa with an axe, killing him on the spot. The accused is absconding.
