Grain trader robbed of Rs 1.5 lakhs in Dahod

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
VADODARA, Aug 24: Three armed men robbed Rs 1.5 lakh in cash from a grain merchant and his relative and inflicted bullet injuries at Dahod on Monday evening. The incident took place when Hansmukhlal Motilal Jain and his relative Rajinder Hiralal Jain, hailing from Rajasthan, were returning to their home town Banswara after collecting money from customers in Dahod.

The duo was rushed to the Dahod Civil Hospital where their condition is reported to be improving. In an FIR lodged with Limdi Police Station, Hansmukhlal Motilal Jain alleged that he had collected Rs two lakh from his customer, Navinbhai of Jalaram Traders, and was on his way back, along with his relative, on a Hero Honda motorcycle around 4 pm when the incident occurred.

Jain said three youths on two motorbikes followed them as soon as they left Dahod and made several attempts to overtake and cause a road mishap. After several attempts the youths overtook them while they were on the Machad river bridge and asked Jain to stop, alleging that Jain deliberately wanted to cause an accident. The three then asked Jain to give them the money he had collected.

One of the miscreants shot at Jain and his relative through a country-made revolver. While the miscreants left back their own Hero Honda (GJ-17-H-2451) motorcycle, they drove away the motorbike of Jain. PSI D D Solanki is investigating the case.
