VADODARA, Aug 24: Temporary lecturers at the M S University's Faculty of Home Science did not engage lectures on Tuesday. The reason: they had not received any intimation or assurance about their pay. Speaking to Express Newsline, one of the temporary lecturers said, ``We have decided not to take any classes until we are given some kind of assurance about our future.''
``We have been working ever since the faculty re-opened, but till date we have not been assured whether we shall receive our pay properly or not,'' said the lecturer.
The lecturers claimed that they had been told by faculty professors that they were working on an ad-hoc basis till the elections, and only those lecturers appointments would be confirmed whose interviews were held before the ban on lecturers' recruitment was imposed.
``We definitely cannot continue to work like this,'' they added. The lecturers have decided to meet on Wednesday to arrive at a firm resolution. Head of the department of Clothing and Textile, S Phadke, however said that as per the government's instructions, the lecturers could not be given any official intimation or appointment letter at present.
