EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
SURAT, Aug 24: One more aide of notorious criminal and Chhota Rajan aide Dilip Maratha has been arrested by the Detection of Crime Branch (DCB). Chiman Govind Patel (Chhaparia), a resident of Valasan in Jetpur taluka of Kheda district, was arrested by DCB team from his village and brought to the city on Monday night.

Announcing Chhaparia's arrest, the DCB and special branch said that he was closely involved with Maratha, specifically in the Damodar Kutchhi kidnapping case. Chhaparia has been escorted to Mumbai today afternoon for further interrogations. Earlier, the police had produced him before a magistrate this morning and secured a four-day remand.

Meanwhile, another person, namely Jayesh Mahendra Badhiwala, a resident of Kotadia village of Dhandhuka taluka in Ahmedabad district, was arrested from Hotel Ruturaj on Tuesday by the DCB. Badhiwala was attempting to kidnap a businessman's 16-year-old son to extort money, the police said, but added that he had no connection with underworld elements.

Providing details, the special branch said that a huge knife, a pair of goggles, a scarf and other equipment were recovered from a room in the hotel, where Badhiwala had been staying since August 8. The DCB said that he was trying to kidnap Bharat Vallabh Kakadia from Indraprasth Towers beside Indoor Stadium in Athwalines.

Badhiwala reportedly went ot Indraprastha Apartments at least three times in the past week and sought to know details of Vallabh Kakadia's family. Kakadia, however, has not lodged an official complaint, the DCB said, adding that the operation was carried out based on concrete information.
