Pak to raise downing of Atlantique by India at UN

PTI
ISLAMABAD, Aug 26: Pakistan will raise the issue of shooting down of its naval aircraft Atlantique by India, at the United Nations General Assembly next month in an attempt to secure ``international condemnation'', according to Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Muhammad Siddique Kanju.

``Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will be leading a delegation to the UN and this issue will definitely be raised at the UN General Assembly session next month,'' the official APP news agency quoted Kanju as telling Pakistani television. The Pakistani premier is scheduled to address the UN General Assembly on September 22.

Sharif during his address to the General Assembly is also expected to clarify Pakistan's present stand on the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty (CTBT) as Foreign Secretary Shamshad Ahmed had said only last week that Islamabad is keeping its option of signing CTBT open in the wake of India's nuclear doctrine.
