Membership drive by BCL

The British Council Library in Mumbai is offering family membership from September 1, a scheme which is open to the first 1,000 applicants. Contact the library on the first floor of Mittal Tower, `A' Wing, opposite Vidhan Bhavan, Nariman Point, with proof of residential and professional address from Tuesdays to Saturdays from 9.30 am to 6.15 pm; phones 2823560 or 2823530. New NCC Deputy DG

Brigadier Shashi Kumar Mehta took over as Deputy Director General NCC, Directorate Maharashtra on Monday.

Commissioned in the elite 4 Gorkha Regiment in 1966, Brigadier Mehta has held various important regimental, command and staff appointments in his 33-year career. Prior to his present posting, Brigadier Mehta was Dy General Officer Commanding 9 Infantry Division.

Run for unity by INS Hamla

INS Hamla naval training establishment organised a run for unity on `Sadbhavna Diwas' on Monday. The10-kilometre run from Hamla to Madh fort was flagged off by Commodore F H Dubash, Commanding Officer, INS Hamla. Over 2,000 individuals, including an 84-year old, participated in the event involving families from Hamla, Air Force station, Madh, HBTC Marve, COD Kandivali/ Malad, and children from Kendriya Vidyalaya, Madh and Sea Cadet Corps.

Cost-effective technology talk

The National Centre for the Performing Arts and Mohile-Parikh Centre for The Visual Arts Architecture Forum has organised a slide presentation followed by a discussion with architect Shankar Kanade on `Cost Effective Technology' on August 27 at 6.30 pm at the Little Theatre. Course on life values

Book fair by Rotaract Club
