150 gram smack seized
The Panchkula Police have arrested two Nigerians for possessing smack. Acting on a tip off, the police raided their residences in Sector 17 here and recovered 40 gram smack and 110 gram from each place. Both the men have been booked under the NDPS Act.Pedestrian hit by scooter
Pedestrian Sham Lal was hit by a scooter near General Hospital, Sector 16 of Chandigarh. He was admitted in the General Hospital. The scooterist has been arrested. A case has been registered under Sections 279 and 337 of the Indian Penal Code.
Bag containing documents stolen
Harminder Singh, owner of Sector 17 Chandigarh Gas Agency, has reported that a bag containing one gold chain and some documents has been stolen. A case has been registered under sections 457 and 380 of the Indian Penal Code.
8 arrested in separate cases
Eight persons have been arrested in three different cases. While two persons have been nabbed for roaming under suspicious circumstances, one has been held under preventive act and the other under the Police Act. Four persons - Kamaljit Singh, Ashok Kumar, Jaspal and Sham Lal - have been caught while playing cards at public places.
One hurt as car rams scooter
In a hit and run incident in the township, Parvinder Singh, a resident of Phase IX, was seriously hurt, when his scooter was hit by a Maruti at the Ambwala Chowk. A case has been registered at the Phase I Police Station under Sections 279 and 335 of the IPC. According to police sources, the scooterist and his cousin were on their way to Phase X when the accident occurred. The speeding car jumped the red lights and fled towards Sohana. The police is investigating the case.
