RCF fritter advantage

MUMBAI, AUG 26: Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilizers drew 1-1 with Central Railway in the WIFA Super Division football championship at the Cooperage, today. With this division points, RCF, who now have 17 and a game in hand against against Bank of India, displaced Gulf Oil BMFC and Mahindras.

RCF, making a determined start, had the lead too in the 22nd minute with Douglas D'Sena latching on to a poor clearance by rival 'keeper Anthony D'Souza. The veteran RCF winger blasted a half volley over Anthony who was struggling to scamper behind. The goal was neutralised by Pradeep Saha as he managed to get his head to a fine Hamid Ansari floater from the right.

RCF goalkeeper Suhas Patil erred once by not making an attempt to collect the ball and was caught in no man's land.

OTHER RESULTS

Div I: SBI 2 (Mohd Sadiq, Jayant Sinha) drew with ICL 2 (Ajit Kokate, Ashish Bhoir).

Goan Sports Assn ground, Cross Maidan: Div III Oberoi Towers drew with IDBI 0-0. Div II Voltas SC drew with Central Excise 0-0. DivI Customs B drew with Sea View 0-0

WR retain title

Western Railway retained their title by scoring over Central Railway in the GMAAA Water Polo Championship. Most Valuable Player Nirav Vora, the Western Railway custodian, gave a sterling display by thwarting the Central Railway forwards in their quest to gain ascendancy.

RESULTS (FINALS)

Western Railway 7 (Ajit Singh 2, Vijay Kumar 2, Rajesh Manghani 1, Sunil Jaiswal 1, Vivek Mechant 1) bt Central Railway 1 (Indrajit Khadilkar).

Third place: MGMO 13 (Peter Hakim 3, including hat-trick, A Raja Mani 3, Sanket Shinde 3, Tejas Pathare 3, Atish Mantri 1) bt PMHB 4 (Nitin Malhotra 4).
