Protest against poll venue

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
VADODARA, Sept 2: Some 250-300 M S University students took out a scooter rally on Thursday to protest against the district administration's decision to use the university premises for elections. They have threatened to boycott the elections if the decision is not revoked.

The rally began at the university and ended at the Collector's office, where the students submitted a memorandum. They also expressed their displeasure at the idea of appearing for exams during Navratri.

Students' union general secretary Prakash Verma said, ``We will not allow the district administration to use the university premises at the cost of classes, which are delayed anyway because of the admission procedure.''

``If classes are not held for another two weeks and we are still expected to take an examination, then it is not possible,'' said Deepak Patel, a first year student. ``If a decision is not taken in our favour then we would boycott the elections,'' said Patel.

``The teachers want to enjoy their vacation at the students' expense,'' said Mahesh Shah, another student. He added that the decision of conducting examinations during the Navratris was a clear indication. ``How can we take an examination by attending college just for about three weeks?'' said Shah.
