Vulnerable groups ignored -- Dalits and minorities front

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
CHANDIGARH, Sept 2: In a press note issued here today All India Dalits and Minorities Welfare Front General Secretary O.P. Kalyan derided the leadership of the national as well as regional parties contesting the Lok Sabha poll.

He accused successive governments of serving the interests of the "haves" and showing total disinterest in the condition of vulnerable groups such as women, poor people, Dalits, and minorities.

The front General Secretary particularly scoffed at the candidates for their failure to address the issue of education for all as guaranteed by the Constitution. "The Supreme Court has ruled that all children between the ages of four and 14 must be given free and compulsory education but not a single party has touched upon this basic issue" he said. "Without education, what progress can an individual or a nation make?" he asked.
