Blind association seeks inquiry

PANCHKULA, Sept 2: The All-India Blind Employees' Association has urged Haryana Chief Minister Om Parkash Chautala to direct the Haryana DGP to order an inquiry into the kidnapping of a blind student in Ambala and to trace him and take strict action against the accused. A student of SD College, Ambala Cantt, Sanjay Lamba, was kidnapped on July 19.

Further, the Association has requested the Chief Minister to direct employment exchanges to fill all the vacant posts against the backlog quota of the blind persons which are pending in various Haryana government offices.

1 hurt in mishap
A Maruti van knocked down Kartar Singh as he was walking near Chandimandir. The van driver fled from the scene, leaving Singh behind with injuries. The victim's son, Gurprinder Singh, a resident of Pinjore, lodged a complaint at the Chandimandir police station. A case under sections 279, 337 IPC (rash and negligent driving) has been registered.
