Deceased identified

SAS NAGAR, Sept 2: The police here now believe that the body and severed head recovered from the Government Nursery opposite the Phase I police station here yesterday belonged to one Ram Singh as that name was tattooed on the victim's arm. The deceased is believed to be in his early 20s and was apparently a migrant labourer.

Roopnagar Senior Suprintendent of Police G.S. Bhullar visited the site, where the body was found. Five police parties are conducting raids in search of clues to the murder and DSP (Detective), Avtar Singh, is conducting the investigation.

Thief arrested
The police have arrested Harish Kumar, son of Pran Nath of Manauli village, under Section 380 of the IPC for stealing tractor fuel-injection parts from Swraj Engines in Phase IX, Industrial Area.

According to Phase XI Police Post in-charge Harshimran Singh Bal, police nabbed the accused during routine checking. He was working temporarily with Sawraj Engines for about three months and has been charged with stealing 20 nozzles of which 14 were recovered from him. The complaint was lodged by the company's personnel manager P.S. Mann.
