Rakhra campaign gets fillip

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
PATIALA, Sept 2: SAD-BJP candidate Surjit Singh Rakhra's election campaign got a fillip last night as a large number of his supporters on scooters and cars took out an impressive rally through the main markets of the city.

Later, they participated in a rally addressed, among others, by Punjab Finance Minister Capt Kanwaljit Singh. Already a group of youth from the United States have been camping here and actively campaigning for the SAD nominee.

They have been roped in by Darshan Singh, Rakhra's brother, who is settled in the US and is currently in town to campaign for him. Addressing the rally, Capt Kanwaljit Singh alleged that the AISAD had a secret electoral understanding with the Congress. "Tohra's aim is not to win any parliamentary seats, but to help the Congress candidates in their victory and harm the political interest of the SAD," he said.

However, he said Tohra would not be able to succeed in his game plan as the Akali voters had always voted for the main Akali Dal, not any breakaway faction or group.
