After the wins, time for tongue lashing
Venus Williams got a heartychuckle over top seed Martina Hingis' `big mouth' jibe, even as the Swiss star warned Williams that her US Open rivals might have the last laugh. Australian Open champion Hingis and third seed Williams advanced to the third round of the $ 14.5 million-dollar Grand Slam tennis tournament with straight-set triumphs yesterday before the teens traded taunts.

Windies win
Not many would remember a name that was pencilled in at the last moment in the West Indies World Cup squad last April. What is vividly remebered is the stunning retirement declaration by veteran all-rounder Carl Hooper, forcing the West Indies selectors to look out for an ideal replacement. They decided to draft in Ricardo Powell, who was a smashing success in the domestic Red Stripe Cup and Busta Cup matches.
