CHENNAI, SEPT 4: Top seed Megha Vakharia of Mumbai turned it around after a close first set against second seed Nandita Chandrasekar to win the under-16 girls' title. She prevailed 6-4, 6-1 in the Nutrine National Sub-Junior (under-14 and 16) Hard Court Tennis Championship at SAF Tennis Stadium. The start of the second set was bizarre with three breaks of serve at love, two for Megha, one for Nandita. Sudden sharp showers delayed the inevitable for an hour as Nandita was serving at 1-3. Megha played the best after the rain delay, hitting winners everywhere to romp home.
Earlier in the morning, Megha partnering Liza Periera (Maharashtra) defeated Preethi Rao and Alice Joy (TN) 6-0, 6-0 in the under-16 doubles final.
Over the last two weeks, no one has threatened to stop Isha Lakhani in the under-14 girls. It was no different today as Ankita Bhambri (Dli), who had taken care of first and third seeds earlier, lost 1-6, 2-6.
Arun Prakash brought some cheer to TN, by capturing the under-14 boys final, toppling top seed Vikrant Sane (Mah) 6-2, 6-3. Vinod K Sewa completed the rout (6-1, 6-1) in just about 45 minutes to take his maiden under-16 title beating C S Mohanty.
