SBI camp for soiled notes
Prompted by the success of its first special camp to exchange mutilated notes of lower denominations for coins, the State Bank of India will hold another camp at Raopura, between 11.30 am and 2.30 pm on Friday. The bank has requested the public to remove any plastic from the notes before exchanging them.

Haj quota
Gujarat Minority Board chairman Ganibhai Qureshi has demanded an increase in the State's quota for Muslims going on Haj. A representation to this effect was made to Gujarat Chief Minister Keshubhai Patel and All-India Haj Committee chairman Tanvir Ahmed. Qureshi said the quota needed to be increased since the number of people seeking to go on the pilgrimage had increased.

DoT open house
The Vadodara Telecom District will hold an open house on general matters regarding telecommunication services in the district at 11 am on Saturday at the New Telephone Exchange compound, Miyagam, Karjan, according to a press release.

ULC dept
The urban land ceiling department was formally abolished in the district on Thursday. According to Resident Deputy Collector C R Kharsan, all pending ULC cases will now be handled by Additional Collector, Land Reforms, S A Patel from his office at the Kothi building.

Poll meeting
State Deputy Chief Election Officer J P Jadeja met election and collectorate officials here on Thursday and instructed them to ensure fair and peaceful counting as well as smooth and faultless communication of the trends and results to the Chief Election Commissioner, New Delhi, and the State authorities through e-mail, sources said.

Exhibition
A 13-day exhibition-cum-sale of handicraft and handlooms from different States opened at Manubhai Towers, Sayajigunj, on Thursday. Organised by the Union Ministry of Textiles, North-Eastern Handicrafts and Handlooms Development Corporation and Purbashree, Mangalore, the show has creations from Rajasthan, West Bengal, the north-eastern and south Indian states, Gujarat and Rajasthan, an official release said.

Teachers' Day
G N V High School, Vadodara, celebrated Teachers' Day in a special way last week, with the students playing peons, teachers and the school principal themselves. Principal A S Ravlani handed over prizes to students who performed well.

Yoga contest
Devotees of the Kayavarohan Tirth Seva Samaj and the Shree Lakuleesh Yoga School will organise a State-level Yoga contest at Kayovarohan village to mark the silver jubilee of the Shree Brahmeshwar Yog Mandir. According to an official release, the two-day contest will start from September 18.
